A Storm is coming ...

Hey guys! Thank you for checking out my site and my first blog.

I am excited that my first M/M romance novel, "Brought by the Storm," is set for release on April 9th. I hope you'll love Eric and Carrington as well as their exciting adventure. The book is the first in the "All on the Line" series for Pride Publishing. (Soon to follow are "Saved by the Pitcher," and "Found by Chance.")

I don't know about you, but when I purchase an M/M novel, I'm hoping that it's a book that tells a story that goes beyond boy-meets-boy, boys fall in love, there's a misunderstanding between the two that causes a breakup, then the boys realize they love each other and reunite. Sure, that's the basic structure of a romance novel, but if there isn't more to the plot, then you feel like you're reading the same book repeatedly.

I believe an author owes their readers more than that. That's why each book in the "All on the Line" series contains plot twists, drama or suspense, and character growth. Also, a reader has the right to expect fully developed characters that are believable from start to finish. I hope you'll think that's true of the characters in my books.

Finally - dialogue, dialogue, dialogue. Have you ever read an M/M romance where you just couldn't finish it because the jokes were horrible, the conversations were filled with cliches, and the sex talk seemed ripped from a low-budget porn flick? I try very hard to write dialogue that's witty, meaningful, and true to character. Also, sex scenes should be hot, for sure - and I think they're at their hottest when you've been pulled into the characters' stories, eagerly anticipating the moment they get together. And when they do, all semblance of who they are shouldn't disappear, making you wonder 'who the hell are these two and when did they enter the picture'? As an author, you need to have a clear picture of the characters so that no moment in the book feels off to the reader.

I hope that when you read one of my books, you'll think that I've succeeded in what I've set out to achieve. There are several reasons people write - but the most important one should be to create an enjoyable experience for the reader. To that end, please let me know what you liked - or maybe even didn't like (hopefully, that won't be the case, but I'd want to know and consider it for future books). And speaking of novels yet unwritten, please share anything that would be of particular interest to you in future stories. I'm open to exploring different tropes, though to be honest - aliens and shapeshifters don't do it for me. There are other authors who would write those stories better.

I hope you'll consider grabbing "Brought by the Storm" and dropping me a line. I'd love to hear from you and what's on your mind.

Take care, my friends.
